By TK March 7, in Paint. So after years and years of making my own blends of panel liners, I figured I'd try Tamiya's Black Panel liner. Works well enough and is convenient. I let it dry as per the instructions on the bottle and then tried to remove and blend it with the paint using Tamiya X Now my paint job underneath is completely ruined. It went through the gloss coat, the final paint coat and into the primer.

Sorry you ran into this on your pride and joy. Particulary as enamels are harder to find.
I think I've managed to wreck one of the finest builds I've ever done! I waited a few minutes for it to dry, then use Humbrol enamel thinner on a cotton bud to clean up. Well, the thinner seems to have eaten into the gloss coat and it looks awful - it started looking ghostly white. What have I done wrong? I had researched this well, watching several videos before giving it a go. Ah man, what a bummer.
By Reelyator August 6, in Paint. After using Mr. Weathering Liquids for a while for weathering as well as for Panel Lining of Surface Deatils i wanted to try something new on my current ED Build and use Tamiyas Panel Liners as i have heard so many positive comments on its exelent flow behaviour. After the first attemt on a not so visible area on the feet i can confirm, that it really flows very well. Originally i was under the assumption that Laquer Paints are not affected by Acrylic Thinners and Acrylic Paints are not affected by Laquer Thinners but it seems here i was wrong Who has experience with Tamiyas Panel Liners?

By AlexM19 November 27, in Paint. Ive come back to the hobby after a fan of about 7 years! This time round I want to try and add a bit more depth to my models. I found a technique on YouTube where you run a 4B pencil along the panel lines of the model, then smudge the pencil using a cotton bud. On the topside of the model the effect looked ok, but on the lighter underside of the model it looked awful! The Tamiya panel line accent seems to get good reviews? I brush paint using enamels and I guess the panel line accent would work over an enamel gloss coat? One of the problems with panel line washes is that it can be very easy to get paint outside the line, so you need to be able to remove it without damaging the underlying paint.

You will also need an enamel thinner such as mineral or white spirits to dilute the excess and properly clean up the areas being worked on. The manufacturer uses extremely fine pigments which are loosely suspended in an enamel carrier.
AlexH Member since February Super amazing! So there is something in there that is a bit too strong for some applications. Take care when applying on flat base coat colors as Accent Color paints may permeate more readily. Note: Plastic parts may become brittle when using Tamiya Panel Line accent colors. Darren Reply. I've done this as well. Couldn't be happier with how it performs. Acrylic base coat 2. Only the Humbrol will eat through the plastic bottles. Translate all reviews to English.
