You need to take off the starter solenoid contacts from the large bolts on the starter case and "tap off the old starter solenoid contacts" from the bolts. You install the new starter solenoid contacts the same way. You will see that there are some insulators protecting bolts from the metal case. Its important not to forget to reinstall these the way they came off. When finishing the insulation of the contacts make sure that they are sitting flat in the starter. If they are not, and in tightening the lock bolts they can twist the starter will click again after a couple of days. SKU: SC

I don't know how to link a post, but a couple of months ago, I had a long series of posts on how I did exactly that. They are also used to make springs. Log in. It is only occasionally used, by itself, as a contact material. Much the same as Asbestoses. Members Current visitors New profile posts Search profile posts. Many gyroscope internals are also constructed of beryllium. Last edited: Jul 10, On a starter, the current draw will drop when the engine starts and the starter can spin freely, thusly making it easier for the contacts to separate without arcing. As I recall, the major health concern was breathing the dust of Beryllium. Solenoid Contact metal. Forums Bookmarks New posts Search forums. I am certain that most cheap starter solenoids are using a nearly pure, but work hardened, copper alloy for their contacts, Premium starter solenoids use a copper nickel silver alloy for their contacts because of its low welding and material transfer characteristics. When I was hot and heavy in the electric car business back in the late 70's the contact buttons were copper, nickel and silver and then silver soldered to the back plate. Once significant pitting has occurred, arcing can become more severe. My doubt is removed and I have saved the link.
