Print Thread. I've got an old camshaft of which I'm trying to the specifications to. From what I've read, it seems to be a Crane Cam Core with a Chet Herbert grind but in searching there were two cams with two different specs that used the number so I'm trying to verify the cam information. Please, can someone help me in finding the original cam specs. Also, this cam is specifically for a Big Block Mopar Wedge engine 3 bolt.

Shovelhead A place to talk about Shovelheads. Thread Tools. Hi guys, Bought my FXS a year ago. The ride has lot's of modifications, but no specs. From the beginning the Shovel 'stutters' in the midrange. The rear cylinder doesn't beats a good rithm. The front cylinder beats well. At high speed no stuttering. Changing the mechanical ignition for a Crane HI-4 single fire ignition doensn't solved the stuttering. Both cylinders have good compression. The CV carb seems te work fine. Last weekend checked the camshaft. Seems no stock cam, but can't identify it. Made some pictures of it and hope that one of u guys can identify the make and grind. Attached Thumbnails.

My concern is that the cam does not have a number cast in in, but instead it says powermax that is written by hand with one of those tools to write on metal, crane camshaft identification.

Crane makes Blueprint camshafts for almost, if not, every GM, Ford, Mopar engine from the sixties and seventies. If you are confused as to which cam you should buy for your beast, Crane has you covered. They took the time to create a muscle car camshaft guide which can be found here. The guide even tells you what the factory part number for that particular camshaft is, along with their part number, lifter type, and all of the durations. These Blueprint Series Camshafts were designed for high compression ratio engines using high octane gasoline and they were also being used in cars with low end gear ratios.

The world of high performance engines can be a very confusing place, where terms and specifications seem to be full of obscure references that appear to make no sense.
