Today people even swear that battery calibration works and believe in the placebo effect that it gives So what's all this about? Owned an older device that came with forced encryption? Myth cleared but then how does the android system know about the correct battery level A driver in your kernel called "fuelguage" periodically sends battery data to the android system It's looks exactly like this That's how the battery percentage is sent to the android system. The kernel writes it to a file, records it to a log that the battery percentage changed and the android system has been coded to just report this value back to the user. Android doesn't store this data for battery calibration purposes or anything else What does this batterystats file contain It just contains data about how much battery was used by each app and the system from one full charge to the next. It has no actual battery calibration data. It was debunked by Google already in
