We love visiting the Knitting Loft for many reasons, but at the forefront of it being a family run business, by mother daughter duo Bruna and Maria. This beautiful shop located in the North end of Toronto is just off the , making it highly accessible to many in and around Toronto. The shop has two floors full of beautiful yarn sourced globally, and is in the process of expanding with construction underway. Along with beautiful yarn, the shop hosts many interesting classes. Do you have any advice for someone looking to open up a retail shop? Tell us about the moment you both decided to execute your idea into fruition. My mom has always been in charge of the yarn displays - especially since having an eye for colour never came as naturally to me! Spincycle Yarns, especially Dyed in the Wool , continues to be one of our most popular products. Out of curiosity, we went to go check it out, but within a week the space was rented by someone else. Is the Blocking: This is a project that definitely benefits from wet blocking as it means you can unfurl the shawl it will coil as you knit it and create really edges. Which is your most popular product? What was the most crucial part of the design process for you? My mom dreamt of opening a yarn shop for many years before it actually became a reality. It can be a different blend but be aware that meterage requirements will change if you substitute yarns.
