He made a record 31st Crucible appearance, surpassing the 30 appearances by Steve Davis , and reached a record-extending 21st quarter-final—also becoming the first player to compete in matches at the Crucible—but lost 10—13 to Belgian player Luca Brecel. Si, aged 20, became the first debutant to reach the semi-finals since Andy Hicks at the event and the youngest player to do so since O'Sullivan at the event. Brecel came from 5—14 behind in the semi-finals to defeat Si 17—15, the first time a player had won a match at the Crucible after trailing by nine frames.

The —24 snooker season is an ongoing professional snooker season with tournaments played between 26 June and 26 May The World Snooker Tour in the —24 season initially involved professional players, but dropped to players. This includes 65 out of the top 68 players from the prize money rankings after the World Championship Zhao Xintong , Yan Bingtao , and Lu Ning were banned from competition after an independent disciplinary tribunal found them guilty of match-fixing , and are not eligible to compete during the season [4] and 34 of the 35 players who earned a two-year card the previous year Bai Langning was also banned from competition due to his involvement in match-fixing. The next four places went to the top four players on the one-year ranking list who had not already qualified for the tour. A further eight places were assigned through the two Q School events.
