Mummundrai are the opposites of the originals, and Jean says that everyone has to meet their Mummundrai in the womb. It is the first contact a human ever has with alien lifeform. Cassandra managed to obtain her body because of the power of Charles' Psyche. After the Mummundrai Cassandra absorbed Stuff , Morrison did not elaborate what the X-Men did with the possessive creature.

A Mummudrai, according to Shi'ar myth, is a spirit that is equal and opposite to another person's being. Essentially, a Mummudrai is the anti-self in a spiritual form that must be defeated before one's birth. Due to the incredible power of Professor X , his birth resulted in a Mummudrai so powerful that it actually went beyond spiritual form into a physical self, resulting in Cassandra Nova.

However, her actions also led to her abandonment in the distant past, with her fate left uncertain amidst the upheavals of cosmic conflict and extinction. Cassandra Nova is capable of copying the DNA of sentient beings and using it to construct physical bodies for herself. She had planned on using Cerebra to eliminate all mutants. Cassandra can also manipulate the DNA she has copied to act as a rapid healing factor or to mimic the voice and DNA of others.

Surviving undetected for years as a growing mass of cells in a sewer wall, Cassandra meticulously crafted a new body for herself, fueled by a burning desire for revenge against her brother. Despite initial confrontations with the X-Men and nearly being killed, Cassandra demonstrated remarkable resilience, infiltrating and manipulating her way through various hosts and situations.
