Sunnybrook is located at Bayview Avenue in Toronto. Each year, on average, two residents are accepted at this location. Sunnybrook has one of the largest cancer programs in North America. Our goal is to incorporate the physics residents, as much as possible, into daily clinical physics activities. The physics residents have desk space situated in close proximity to both the clinic and our physics staff. This puts them in the heart of interactions that go on within our mulit-disciplinary radiotherapy team. The residents attend our physics staff meetings as well as our monthly machine QA debriefing meetings which gives them a sense of the daily life of the clinical medical physicist.

Virtual methods have been innovatively utilized to provide clinical and supportive care to patients with cancer. Oncology pharmacists have been actively involved in this movement, in order to minimize patient contact and decrease the risk of viral transmission for this high-risk group. Process maps were created to visualize workflow before and after the pandemic. Process metrics were tracked over a 6-week period. Despite workflow disruptions caused by the pandemic, these results demonstrate that clinical pharmacy service levels could be maintained by incorporating remote delivery approaches without significant investment in resources. Further research to develop, refine, and individualize virtual clinical pharmacy care models will help to consolidate the role of these approaches in the post-COVID era.
