Update December 31, The redevelopment of the outdoor spaces at Norwood Park are substantially complete. The improvements include new walking trails with solar lighting, replacement of a portion of the playground, development of a new nature play area, construction of a new multi-sport green space and construction of a new recreation building with attached shelter. The new building will serve as a space for recreation programming, summer camp location and as a neighborhood community rental space for graduations, birthday parties, and other small gatherings. The building construction will be complete in February with some exterior finishing touches to be completed when the weather allows in the Spring. The new trails have graded and the trails on the east side of the park have been paved. The parking lot has been reduced in width same number of stalls with curb and gutter being poured the week of August 9 th. The new playground will be installed in late August. The Park redevelopment projects are expected to be substantially complete by the end of October.
This field is the only one available in the five-state area Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Iowa and offers a turf surface that is wheelchair accessible.

The surfacing is artificial turf, to help provide a clean surface that allows most people to move to all areas of the playground. There are many special features to check out! The first and only dedicated competitive wheelchair softball field in the five-state area is located in Northwoods Park. Everyone is able to use the field for kickball, whiffle ball, or any field sport. An archery range is located in the northeast corner of Brooklyn Park in the Environmental Nature Area West River Rd and is available for use during park hours. It offers six shooting stations with targets at 10, 20, 30, 40 and yard distances. Mechanical or fixed-blade broad heads are not allowed. There are 30 parks that have athletic fields with more than 70 softball or baseball fields and 19 soccer fields; they are available to rent for games and tournaments.
