Luffy, after causing mayhem, was eventually captured upon meeting Hancock after falling into her personal bathhouse whilst she was bathing. Infuriated, Hancock had her sisters apprehend Luffy and have him summerly executed due to her deep hatred of men and for having seen the slave mark on her back. However, the execution, via combat, did not go as Hancock wished as Luffy proved himself to be a formidable individual who could keep her with her sisters.

The Pirate Empress, Boa Hancock is a crucial character that Oda introduced in his story before the time skip. While she played a major role in the Paramount War Saga, helping Luffy read his brother in Impel Down and then saving him during and after the Paramount War as well, Boa Hancock has been largely neglected in the story following the timeskip. Of course, this doesn't mean that Boa Hancock is not going to get attention ever. It just meant that her role was always to come in the later half of the story. Though initially antagonistic towards Monkey D. Luffy , his selfless actions and animosity towards the Celestial Dragons caused her to befriend, and eventually fall in love, with him.
