Peirce is the creator of the animated series based on his aforementioned book and comic strip series. Peirce was born on October 23, , in the city of Ames, Iowa , of French descent. His family moved east in , and Peirce grew up in Durham, New Hampshire. He developed a fascination with comic strips at a young age and often cites Charles Schulz 's Peanuts as his greatest inspiration. At Colby College in Waterville, Maine , he studied art and art history. During his four years at Colby, he produced a weekly comic strip called Third Floor, featuring an ensemble cast of student and faculty characters. Peirce is the creator of the comic strip Big Nate.
He later on received a graduate degree from Brooklyn College and in addition studied at The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture prior to starting teaching art and coaching basketball game at a New York senior high school for about 3 years. He lives together with his wife and 2 children, and from time to time he presents lectures to college students pertaining to cartoon creating. It is definitely a business that may be relatively challenging to get into but the creator Lincoln Peirce was driven in early stages itself to pursue his career in comic strips. He started off just like many other third graders with a passion for reading and drawing. However it was not merely a hobby, Peirce soon started to consider drawing as his career.
