Victor Fries Pronounced "freeze" was an accomplished cryogenicist whose beloved wife Nora was stricken with a fatal degenerative disease, mister freeze. Fries placed her in suspended animation while searching for a way to cure her. But GothCorp 's CEO Ferris Boyle stopped funding the research—and Nora's life—and pulled the plug, triggering an accident that transformed Fries' body into a mister freeze form that must always be kept at sub-zero temperatures; at normal room temperature he will die.
Victor Fries , primarily known as Mister Freeze and before that Mister Zero , is a scientist skilled in cryonics. A scientist, whose name remains unknown, adopted the identity of the criminal Mister Zero after he suffered an unfortunate accident that changed his physiology, forcing him to live in environments below zero temperature. He was experimenting with a concentrated freezing solution in order to create an ice gun and he was accidentally exposed to the solution. To be able to go out into the normal environment, Zero created an air conditioned costume , which helped him remain in cold temperatures — even in hot climates. Using this equipment, Zero gathered a small gang and started a crime spree in Gotham City , stealing mainly diamonds and other precious jewels. Zero was eventually confronted by the local vigilantes, Batman and Robin , who were unable to stop Zero as they couldn't stand against his cold weapons.

Victor Fries was a talented scientist, with a horrible past a violent father, no friends that married the love of his life, Nora Fries. When Nora is diagnosed with a rare terminal illness, Victor's life begins to spiral downhill. In a desperate attempt to save her life, he begins work at a large corporate company run by the evil and corrupted Ferris Boyle. Fries, as he cannot find a way to cure Nora, finds a way to place her in cryo-stasis. In order to save Nora he has to steal equipment from the company he is working for. When Ferris finds out about Fries stealing from him, he and some of his goons try to kill Fries in the cryo lab.
Having a cold heart doesn't mean you're incapable of feeling love. Just ask Victor Fries. His is a sad tale of loss, obsession and villainy. An expert in the field of cryogenics, Victor led a relatively normal existence. He worked diligently, but also fell in love with and eventually married a woman named Nora. Sadly, things took an unfortunate turn soon after.
