Plus the remains towards the outside of the Hive on the right made me excited for a really great boss fight. From what the bee spirit said I feel like the bees were one of the most rounded cultures in the game yet we got very little of them. It was lackluster. Bees make one of the most awesome bosses in video games and it's just sad you didn't take the opportunity. Bad idea just for lore.

The Hive is a Location in Hollow Knight. Please see Walkthrough for other areas. The Hive is an area that consists of a large community of bees and warriors in which a queen ruled and eventually, grew large until it could no longer leave - it was hidden away and was walled off from the kingdom of Hallownest to try and protect itself from the spread of The Infection. To reach The Hive, you'll need to find the Tram Pass which is found at the Failed Tramway in the northeast side of Deepnest and you'll need to have the Vengeful Spirit spell and at least the Monarch Wings and Mantis Claw abilities for traversing the area. Once you have the Tram Pass , ride the tram and go to the eastern side of the map towards Kingdom's Edge. From the tram, head east until you see a few small bees called Hivelings flying around, this indicates that you're near the entrance. Just behind the bees is a breakable wall which can only be destroyed by using the Vengeful Spirit spell - use the spell to open up the path that will take you to The Hive. Upon respectively arriving into The Hive, continue pushing through by going northeast into the next section, then drop all the way to the bottom, and then head west to find a bench. When you're done resting, continue pressing onto the east side of the area until you reach the elevated platforms. You'll encounter enemies such as a Husk Hive that spawns a couple of the Hiveling enemies upon death and a Hive Soldier that tracks the movement of The Knight before it attacks aggressively.

If saved, he complains that the Knight got in the way between him and his "prey", he introduces himself and boasts about his supposed mighty deeds. If he is not saved before acquiring the Mantis Claw, he dies in this location, with his nail and shell remaining. Hitting his shell here grants the Neglect achievement. If he is saved in Greenpath, Zote shows up in Dirtmouth, where he once again talks to the Knight in an arrogant fashion. Zote can be found in a corridor leading back to the storerooms of the City of Tears.

Learn how to find the Grubs in the Hive in Hollow Knigh t! Grubs are small green creatures trapped inside glass jars that the Knight will find throughout Hallownest. These Grubs were trapped by a Void creature named The Collector, who loves to collect dead and alive bugs all around Hallownest and preserve them in glass jars. The Knight will know if a Grub is nearby as its high-pitched crying can be heard in its general direction. Once the Knight finds one, the Knight can free them by striking the glass jar with the Nail to break it. After the Knight frees a Grub, it will do a little high-pitched shout of joy and burrow into the ground to return to its colony with the Grubfather.

Isn't this building a wonder? Garmond appears to be the rider, while Zaza appears to be mount. Information on the individual Great Knights is sparse, with Relic Seeker Lemm noting that their names and appearance seem to have been erased from history. Heavy Blow is another Charm that can be useful during the Swarm Release attack as it provides extra knockback against the Hivelings.
