Some time after being created, the Sage explained to the young tailed beasts that a link existed between them despite their separation. He also foretold of a day when they would be brought together again - though not as they were - and that at that time someone would emerge to show them what true power is. In the anime, before his death, Hagoromo sent Son to live in a temple built for the purpose of protecting it in a desolate rocky region that would later become part of the Land of Earth. Eventually , Son moved on to live in a new location known as the Water Screen Cave, reigning over the monkeys that resided there. It also hated humans, due to the fact that humans had enslaved it, and believes that apes are more intelligent than humans. However, when talking about the Sage of Six Paths, it showed him great respect, being that also had, apparently, a very deep relationship with him, never forgetting his final words. It also seems to have taken a liking to Naruto Uzumaki, as it was moved by his actions for truly trying to save it from being controlled by Tobi and even gave him some of its chakra before being sealed away. He also treats his fellow tailed beasts with much respect, as he addresses them by their name, as seen with Kurama. Son also has a high amount of respect for those who respect the tailed beasts. It has eyes with yellow irides and white pupils, spike-like protrusions along the length of its tails, elongated blunt fangs, and two long horns curving upwards on its forehead like a crown both its fangs and horns are dark-tipped. In its mouth, Son doesn't have a tongue, but has an opening that is shaped like a dome volcano. During the last remaining days of the Sage of Six Paths, Son was much smaller and leaner with smaller fangs. Son also seems knowledgeable in taijutsu, likewise showing deceptive nimbleness of its size, utilising powerful and well-timed kicks against its opponents. With it, it can create volcanoes as well as flaming boulders to launch at the enemy, and even armour of molten rock to defend itself.
Chomei is one of the Tailed Beasts that fans know very little about, however, as far as the anime goes, special attention was given to its Jinchuriki, Fu.

For fans of the genre, it is interesting to see the domino effect of inspiration that can happen in the manga industry. For instance, Yoshihiro Togashi's "Yu Yu Hakusho" inspired certain aspects Tite Kubo's "Bleach" as fans often compare the two , and in turn, "Bleach" would later influence "Jujutsu Kaisen" creator Gege Akutami to come up with his own shonen series per Comicbook. Considering its immense popularity, which has endured for decades until the present day, it is unsurprising that Akira Toriyama's "Dragon Ball" provided inspiration to many manga artists who emerged thereafter. In fact, two of the most popular manga and anime, Masashi Kishimoto's "Naruto" and Eiichiro Oda's " One Piece ," drew inspiration from it. Both, interestingly, also made references to one another's work in their respective manga via AnimeNewsNetwork. As a fan of "Dragon Ball", having even redesigned the cover of its eleventh volume in commemoration of the series' 40th anniversary, Kishimoto left quite a few "Dragon Ball" Easter eggs in his work. Starting off with the most obvious connection, these two are named after the popular protagonist from "Dragon Ball" and his sensei, Master Roshi.

As the nine colossal forms of living chakra extracted from the Ten-Tails , the tailed beasts are central figures in the world of Naruto. Serving as a pivotal factor in the unending conflict between the hidden ninja villages throughout the series, these nine chakra monsters have been used as weapons by warring factions and individuals in the ages since their creation from the Ten-Tails. Despite being viewed by most of the shinobi world as mindless beasts of destruction, they are actually sentient, highly intelligent beings, whose hatred for humanity only emerged as a consequence of the constant exploitation they faced throughout their immeasurably long existences. The first tailed beast to be introduced in Naruto was Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Fox, whose Yang half was sealed into Naruto Uzumaki when he was only an infant. Much like in the case of most other tailed beasts, such as the likes of Son Goku Four-Tails or Shukaku One-Tail — who were both influenced by yokai from Japanese folklore — the nine tails was inspired by kitsune , mythical fox spirits who possess paranormal abilities that are magnified as they age, until eventually reaching parity with Shinto deities. However, they are all united by the enormous amounts of chakra they wield, combined with their near immortality as their deaths will only disperse their chakra for a time until their bodies reform , as well as their ability to create and fire tailed beast balls. This would augment his already immense power to unimaginable levels, at a point where no shinobi in history could have ever hoped to stand a chance against him in a confrontation. Over time, on being inspired by his son, Asura, who would eventually become the common ancestor of the Senju and Uzumaki clans, Hagoromo brought the nine tailed beasts into being by splitting the Ten-Tails' chakra and giving it form through his Creation of All Things technique, which was said to be a form of Yin-Yang Release. This act was described as akin to "turning imagination into reality," a feat that set him apart from other wielders of chakra , where he came to be seen as a divine figure in the centuries after his death. While creating the nine, Hagoromo bestowed each of them with a name and explained the link that existed between them, permitting free telepathic communication among the group regardless of the distance separating them.

Most importantly, Shukaku has advanced sealing techniques that far outrank the other Tailed Beasts, despite technically being considered the weakest. Matatabi is an incredibly powerful Tailed Beast that was in the possession of the Hidden Cloud Village for the longest period of time. As a result, the question there has been widespread discussion about whether Boruto changed Tailed Beasts in the Naruto canon. As implied by its design, Matatabi uses fire-based techniques, arguably making the creature a better fit for Konoha than the Hidden Cloud. Not only can Kurama kill others with a single fingernail, but he can create a barrage of Tailed Beast Bombs and cause immense destruction. Kokuo creates it by combining Fire Release with Water Release, giving rise to this incredible power. Kokuo is quite skilled in combat, as seen when it fought against Gyuki, the Eight-Tailed beast. Into Naruto? When Shukaku lent this power to Naruto Uzumaki, he incorporated it in his Rasengan and was able to seal away one of Madara's Limbo shadows. With help from his mother, Naruto harnessed Kurama's power, but only by becoming friends was the full potential of their Jinchuriki and Bijuu partnership unleashed. Even after Gyuki was forcibly extracted from Killer Bee during the Fourth Great Shinobi War , he was later re-sealed into his former host.
