It is the first installment of the Blue's Clues film series and based on the original television series on Nickelodeon 's Nick Jr. A video game based on the film was released for the PlayStation around the same time, making it the only Blue's Clues video game on a home console other than the V. Blue, Steve, and everyone else at the Blue's Clues house are putting on a show in the backyard, called the "You Can Be Anything You Wanna Be" show, where everyone gets to sing about what they want to be when they grow up. While the gang has their breakfast and talks about the show, Periwinkle eavesdrops on them, but mishears them, believing it's a "magic show", and leaves to practice his tricks for it. Blue and Tickety-Tock are doing a duet about being teachers, but while showing off their performance to everyone, Tickety's voice gets raspy, and she loses her voice. So, she decides to ring her bells during the performance instead, leaving Blue with no partner.

But when Tickety , Blue 's partner in the act, loses her voice, the only way to figure out who could Blue 's new singing partner be is, of course, playing Blue's Clues! At the start of the special, Blue , Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper welcome us into the house. They are preparing for a big music show in the backyard and now they can really get ready. There is one character that is missing though, Steve. They can hear him snoring, it seems that he is still in bed sleeping. Salt says that it is time for Paprika to have breakfast, and leaves with Mrs. Pepper and Paprika. As Steve mumbles in his sleep, Blue and Tickety manage to wake him up by yelling out "Wake up, Steve!! Steve groggily sits up and he said that the viewer is here really early this morning.

Back when he was a kid, he wanted to be a Broadway star. But you know how it is. Within reason, of course. To, say, invade a small country would be taking the message out of context. Rainbow Puppy—yes, the Rainbow Puppy—would love for him to audition for her Broadway production! The audition is at 3 p. It is a sequel to " Blue's Big Musical ". This leads to a game of Blue's Clues to figure out where the audition is. It is a sunny morning in Storybook World, Mr. Salt greets us at the door and we are also greeted by Tickety Tock, Slippery Soap, Shovel, Pail and Sidetable Drawer as Josh sings in the shower of his hopeful audition. After Josh is dressed and ready for another day, he sings and dances with his friends and has breakfast with the Spice Family. Just as Josh sits in the Thinking Chair, he wonders where Blue is and she appears under a spotlight adding a dance to Josh's routine as the number ends. Josh is hopeful he got an audition and is sure it came in the mail when Mailbox comes with the mail "Mailtime". Josh asks if it's the letter he has been waiting for and Mailbox thinks it is which leads Josh to exclaim in song "We Just Got A Letter. Everyone in the house is very happy for Josh!
