Like many restaurants that get good reviews from RS, the 4 Leonis has fallen into a complacency of becoming full of themselves, and falling short of their past accolades. Our dishes were skimpy in portion, and way overpriced for what we received, 4leoni. The pear raviolis had 8, 4leoni easily countable, 8 pieces of small puffs 4leoni pasta. While tasty, it was not worth 14 euros by Italian standards and compared to other restaurants of equal, if not better quality, 4leoni.

The current owner has been managing the restaurant for almost thirty years: its origins are those of a Florentine eatery with the atmosphere and vitality of a working-class neighbourhood, but that sports a definitely contemporary and elegant character. Classic, tradition-honoured first courses include Mugellana stuffed pasta , vegetable minestrone , oven-baked lasagne , and tagliolini with truffles. I am not exaggerating when I say the pear ravioli is my death row meal…. Now I understand it may be an acquired taste for some people maybe those who This meal paired with red wine and sitting on their patio was the highlight of my trip.

Trattoria 4 Leoni is a typical Tuscan restaurant situated in the Centre of Florence , between Ponte Vecchio and Palazzo Pitti, in one of the capital's historic squares, piazza della Passera. Has just turned twenty years old and much more than a simple trattoria toscana. This is a contemporary and elegant character local. His Queen is the Tuscan cuisine with typical and genuine dishes , which vary depending on the season and availability of market : panzanella, summer, ribollita and pappa al pomodoro vegetable soups in winter. Inevitable are the steak and the peposo. The quality for the tavern comes first , in fact using only raw vegetables into cuisine. The tradition is honored by the early classics like ribollita, pasta e fagioli, Mugello, tortelli vegetable minestrone, lasagna and tagliolini with truffles. While sea bass, turbot, squid, cuttlefish, Octopus, shrimp can be found only if they arrive fresh from the market. For dessert you can choose from traditional lawn cantucci and vin santo, ice cream, cakes and dessert puddings simple and genuine and always homemade. From March to November you can eat outside on a nice terrace on piazza della Passera , surrounded by plants and flowers. All around, antique shops, art studios and workshops.

It was very clear the restaurant didn't want to serve us. Within the 5 minutes4leoni, we were seated at a lovely indoor table, and 4leoni by the most charming waiter, Mossimo.

The Trattoria i 4 Leoni is located in Piazza della Passera a square you won't find on any map since it is small and an intersection of other streets , just a few steps away from the Pitti Palace.

It was recommended by one of our tour guides and did not disappoint. It was also overflowing with local eaters at lunchtime, a great Bayram welcomed us and was super helpful with recommendations. It was very clear the restaurant didn't want to serve us. Super cute interior but even better food and The beef is falls apart as you pick it up and it is a very tasty, homely sort of dish perfect for cold evenings out. We too have had disappointing experiences in recommended restaurants, including those recommended by RS. Based on reviews I've read left by Italians, there seems to be a double standard at this restaurant for locals and tourists. We ordered drinks and appetizers while trying to make our main course selections. I had truffle pasta 3 times in Italy, and this was by far the best one. I love finishing the meal with one of the home made desserts on offer, from the cheesecake to the chocolate and pear cake or often the traditional Cantuccini with Vinsanto , which are biscotti cookies meant to be dipped in the sweet wine. For the ladies I suggest you order the Fagottini di pere e asparagi , handmade pasta with a delicate flavor filled with pears and ricotta covered in a white sauce with asparagus. I sometimes wonder if the restaurants show off for the camera and the recommender, then not so much later.

Located between Ponte Vecchio and Piazza Pitti, Trattoria 4 Leoni owes its name to the Canto ai 4 Leoni , between Via Toscanella and Via del Velluti, where bas-reliefs of four lions in pietra serena adorned the corners, one of which is still visible today. With boundless energy, Stefano Di Puccio has turned 4 Leoni into something much more than a simple Tuscan trattoria, instilling in the establishment a definitely contemporary and elegant character.

Finding it is not easy but you won't be sorry if you make the effort. What a great find! From the delicious salad, the pear stuffed pasta in taleggio, to the mains- veal and seafood fritti, everything was delicious. When we finally placed our order for four steaks, Mossimo suggested that we order the one huge Florentine steak, which would be sliced for all to share.
