Mallorca has exerted an alluring call to British sun-seekers for decades. Magaluf loving families mingle alongside ravers and partygoers, all acquiescent to the magnetism of the discos and beaches. Yet there is much more to Mallorca. The picturesque countryside and secluded clear-watered coves all play a part to mellow hearts of visitors to this diverse island in the Med. In this article, I wanted to personally recommend five out of the scores of wonderful restaurants in Puerto Pollensa. I made a short-list by talking to ex-pats living in and around the town via social media and online forums, finding out where they eat rather than simply heading to the Tripadvisor 4 or 5 starred tourist spots. I also spoke to staff at my hotel — the excellent Hoposa Pollentia, the guys at the bike hire company and with the bar staff in the bars along the seafront. The five restaurants I recommend herein are places I dined at during my stay. Maybe next time, for there will be a next time, I will be able to try them too. I planned to hike, cycle, relax and, most of all, eat delicious, varied food and drink fine Spanish wine. I was not to be disappointed, Puerto Pollensa is blessed with a broad choice and quantity of quality eateries. This Basque take on tapas is a truly Spanish, and pleasingingly Mallorcan experience, and wins hands down against the sausage and egg lunchtime offerings one might assume might be offered in many Spanish beach-side resorts. I have not been paid, nor asked, to mention or promote any of the restaurants, hotels or other businesses mentioned in this blog post. The following are purely my views.

You can relax and dine in some stunning locations with amazing views and wonderful food, be it sensational sea food, great tapas, excellent Italian and now a Michelin starred restaurant, one of only eight on Mallorca. Puerto Pollensa is one of the best destinations in north Mallorca for eating out with a reputation for both quality, value and a remarkable choice of cuisine. Diners are catered for with a wide range of restaurants from simple traditional family fare to superb menus featuring the very best in gastronomy. Mallorcan cuisine is both imaginative and traditional using its local produce especially port and olives and here in the north goat. The locally produced wines such as Mortitx and Can Vidalet are in many of the local eateries. They serve excellent lamb as well as a very good paella and is well known for its excellent value house wine. It sells at only 5. With a high standard of customer service, Celler La Parra is a popular venue for both locals and tourists alike and some customers have been returning for over ten years. On Thursday evenings during peak season there is flamenco dancing in the courtyard and the service from Yolanda and her staff is always as good as the food. Amazing experience again, we come here every time we visit Mallorca. Modern French. We are a family of five and we all had something different from the menu. Most of the restaurants in this town are located along the promenade and around the Miquel Capllonch square where the market is held weekly. Staff kind, cool dog next door. You can choose serveral bars or desitations after this restaurant. Nevertheless, I decided to go with it and, unfortunately, it was quite warm, but still tasty.
