This old house , while quirky and full of charm, is not without its challenges. Case in point: the wall-mounted porcelain sink in our upstairs bathroom. Love the high-back splash guard; hate the exposed plumbing. Right away, I imagined a fabric sink skirt with a large box pleat, trimmed in grosgrain ribbon. You see them all the time in magazines. And that's without the fabric! Enter: Designer DIY. A couple of months back, while shopping the Dollar Tree for a Dorothy Draper-inspired table setting , I came across a bunch of plain, white flour sack cloths. They're simple, beautiful and, best of all, washable! For the table, I trimmed them in green grosgrain ribbon, then used them as napkins. But as luck would have it, they would also be the perfect length for a skirted sink, made from Dollar Tree towels!

In both cases the system allows the fabric to slide back and forth easily. Seriously fabulous!!! I love the addition of the skirt!

Since this is the only bathroom on the main floor and the one my guests would most likely use, I knew it needed an upgrade ASAP. Not only is the bathroom extremely small but who really wants their guests, to see ugly plumbing as soon as they enter? I thought it would just be a matter of picking a smaller profile pedestal sink at the hardware store. Unfortunately, since I have plumbing attachments coming from two different walls, to hide the plumbing I needed to find a very specific corner mounted sink with cabinets or hire a plumber to reroute the pipes. Not only does it hide the ugly pipes it also creates extra storage underneath for bathroom accessories and in my case a portable baby potty. Creating a sink curtain is pretty easy and requires little sewing. Below are some simple instructions that I came up with.

Your post beautiful reviews about sink curtain. Pick Your Fabric Since it sometimes is more economical than buying decorator fabric, I purchased a pretty ready made shower curtain at my local big box store. I could sit and read through your archives all day…what joy! We had horrible sinks though, and I made a skirt for it. On its own, it would be a diminutive and rather plain piece.
