Self Referral. The advocacy service is a service run by York Mind. However we keep our information seperately, and our service is confidential and impartial. Mind operates as a national body to which smaller organisations, pay a fee to affiliate too. Affiliating to the national body means we benefit from being part of a large national organisation whilst keeping our independence. This merger created an organisation with a combined experience of over years in providing services and support to the people of York. York Mind are an independent local mental health charity which aims to empower individuals experiencing mental ill health to start on the pathway to recovery. York Mind deliver a range of services targeted at improving mental health, building resilience and increasing independence. We currently work with a wide range of individuals who benefit from our support including older people, younger people, people with learning disabilities and long term physical health problems. York Mind is funded through a mixture of contracts, grants and donations. In addition to our standard courses we and work with you to provide training that meets your specific needs, yorkmind. W e offer up to 1 6 sessions and each one lasts around 50 min ut es. A counsellor will be matched with you after an assessment has been carried out. Your counsellor will listen to you non-judgmentally and will support you to learn more about your feelings and emotions.
