Many moons ago, when I was in college, I picked as many film courses as I was allowed, coz they were the coolest, and also, the funnest, and therefore, I got to watch a whole lot of movies as part of my curriculum. Film really was the coolest and the funnest, heh. Especially when we got to the part on animation and sat around watching cartoons together. Kinda the same thing with this show, for me, methinks. For the record, I watched 11 episodes of this show before calling it quits.

Hello hello hello! Not me sneaking in one more review for September! It surprised me in a lot of ways and I was seriously debating on how to rate it at the end. Wok of Love is a K-Drama that you can either watch as 19 episodes of about an hour or 38 back-to-back episodes of about 30 minutes I watched it in the latter format on Dramacool. This in itself is already quite a unique number of episodes, as K-Dramas usually tend to be a bit shorter, like 16 one-hour episodes or 32 back-to-back episodes. He is thriving and therefore not aware that within one day, his whole life will be crumbling apart. In the meantime, we also meet Mr. Despite their initial aversion towards each other, Chil Seong agrees to put Poong in charge of the restaurant, while he goes about the business he personally has with Yong Seung Ryong. Her dad is suddenly arrested for committing fraud and her husband just vanishes after not even turning up at the wedding. I have to say from the start that it took me a couple of episodes to get into the story. It started off with a lot of information and rushed character introductions. The three main leads already meet each other in the first episode, but this was also kind of confusing to me. At this point, only Poong had been introduced in more detail, so for the other two it felt like a very hasty and random introduction, especially since they were supposedly main characters but we had no idea who they were yet. We only find out afterwards that Chil Seong is actually a gangster, for example.
Stick with it though - they improve. It would be truly boring if we all liked the same thing LOL!

First off I have to admit I'm a serious fangirl of Junho, but even though I'm slightly biased, this was a very good show with lots of twists, turns, drama, laughter, food and just plain good fun. My only criticism is that they suddenly forgot the horse for about 10 episodes seriously one of the best characters and a few differing dishes would have been nice, but all in all it was a great show and i'll totally recommend it, even if you're not a JH fangirl like me.

Right away in episode 1, I found myself not jiving very well at all, with what Show was serving up. See what I did there? Admittedly this was not a great way to start off our relationship, but it is what it is. All the random and quirky stuff on my screen felt try-hard to my eyes, unfortunately.

Which of the men will the damsel in distress choose? The stellar performances, witty dialogue, and delectable food scenes make it a standout in the world of kdramas. It was one of the most anticipated Korean dramas of , a lot of people are excited about it because it includes a star-studded cast both main and supporting. Then we get random-feeling songs and dances in the noraebang — and it feels especially random when deep-in-thought Chil Sung breaks into a dance when prompted by Maeng Dal. The "thugs", in particular boss thug, Chi-sung, had great character depth. Top picks Sign in to rate and Watchlist for personalized recommendations. Still, it was not enough to totally detract from how good this story was. Zen Cal. Like in episode 3, where Sae Woo reacts to Poong and the gangsters by aggressively handing out her wedding invitations and insisting that they all attend. I really was not sure, until toward the end, who the lead lady would choose. She alternates between looking glam rich woman and a beggar quite convincingly. A Hidden gem? That is a great quote! Which is a feat in itself.
These Koreans very well know how to promote their food and culture through dramas. They are always eating noodles which make me crave noodles all the time.
It didn't bring something new or at least manage to entertain as a whole. Well, Show definitely has its fans.. There was this woman who he kept crossing paths with but he kept failing to recognize her for some reason and she kept getting agitated about that. There are too many unnecessary and repetitive scenes and plot lines that make it feel dragged out. She is terrible for cheating on him and then marrying him anyway, then divorcing him, while still cheating on him. In any case, Park Ji Young is always a nice familiar face in K-Dramas and it was nice to see her and Lee Mi Sook act together again, as they also acted closely together in Jealousy Incarnate.
