I've played the Witcher 1 half way, I beat the Witcher 2 but this one is supposed to be the jewel in the crown but it just doesn't click for me no matter how many times I give it a try. I know the gameplay has never been the focus of these games but honestly after playing games such as Bloodborne and Dark Souls, the combat in TW3 just feels dry. I dont want to compare these games but I kind of have to in order to break down why I dont like the Witcher particularly 3's combat system In the Witcher 1 you could have multiple stances which I really enjoyed and the leveling system was much better as there was a sense of linear progression but in this game the first 20 hours is excruciatingly boring. The entire White Orchard portion of the game is a glorified tutorial. By the time you reach the first story boss in Velen, you're still at level 3 or so. In games like Dark Souls, if a boss is too hard you could just grind a few levels and go back but in the Witcher 3 it has this suggested level thing where if youre underlevel the difficulty is near impossible but if youre overlevel it turns the fight into a joke. I learned this the hard way because I went to do the Eternal Fire quest underleveled and the red miasmal boss was almost impossible to beat but I stilll cheesed it with quen spam, it just took me forever to beat it.

Leveling up in this game—as with so many AAA action-adventure RPG-style titles these days—is grueling, an endless parade of side quests and enemy battles. I, meanwhile, am a chronic one-leveler, always yearning to operate at one or two notches above the suggested level for a given task. For Witcher 3 this has led to the inevitable: being trapped in the grind. Back in the day, it just meant throwing yourself into battle after battle, trying to accumulate those precious points hello, every Final Fantasy game. Now, games usually give you more ways to do this beyond straight combat.

It's a boring, overrated game. I finished the game recently. Maybe I was spoiled by BotW or something, since this game does everything worse.

I value story driven games. Now lets talk about the story. I dont think the game sucks, in fact its great in every other aspect such as the soundtrack and the presentation and the open world. Issues like missing textures, wonky glyph effects, and wrong enemy types are prevalent in long playthroughs. It's a boring, overrated game. To each their own. You are entitled to you opinion. Fans hope that the next-gen update significantly shaves a lot of the unwanted bugs for all versions of the game. Anyone actually won the Passiflora Gwent tournament? But these are not "facts". Look it up fool!!! The auto targeting of this game also sucks, it feels floaty and jumps from one enemy to another but if you manually lock on an enemy you can barely see what's going on in the rest of the area. You sound like you dont know the lore of witchers. I put Witcher 3 into the same trashbin as Skyrim. Most notably exploration, landscapes, artstyle, music keyword subtlety , SFX, environmental interactivity, combat, enemy AI, and the usefulness of items. Topic Archived Page 1 2 3 4 of 4 Next Last. Also, botw has emptier world. I think the Witcher 3 is a game of exceptional quality but I just couldn't get myself to enjoy this game and the combat system could use a facelift.
