The complaint says Dunson was driving home from the grocery store when his vehicle was struck by Unwin's speeding patrol car on Hamilton Avenue. He lost control of the vehicle as he was attempting to change lanes to pass another police cruiser. His vehicle struck a landscaping boulder and became airborne, landing on top of Dunson's car, which was traveling in the opposite direction. Body camera video from an officer who responded to Dunson's car at the scene was released as part of the lawsuit. The officer comments that Dunson is bleeding heavily and no one should move him out of the car, in case he has a neck or other injury that could be made worse.
