Waddle Dees are species native to Planet Popstar. Many, but not all, Waddle Dees loyally serve King Dedede , the self-proclaimed ruler of Dream Land, and he often involves them in his schemes. As an enemy, they are both the most basic and most common regular enemy, and a staple of the Kirby series , with Waddle Dee or some variant thereof appearing in every game since the first ever Kirby title, Kirby's Dream Land. Waddle Dees are notable for their docile, carefree nature, even as foes, mostly walking around aimlessly and never going too far out of their way to attack. However, some pilot vehicles or wield weapons and objects to increase their abilities, using them to attack or unknowingly create hazards. By themselves, they do not give any Copy Abilities if inhaled unless an item carried by one bears an ability. Many variations of Waddle Dees exist, but for the most part, they are simply Waddle Dees holding different accessories e.

They make various appearances in the Super Smash Bros. Many of the Waddle Dees are also affiliated with King Dedede , and are the most common regular enemy in the Kirby series. Waddle Dees first appeared in Kirby's Dream Land and started appearing in just about every game after that. They have no true form of attacking: they just walk around and sometimes leap into the air. However, they damage Kirby on contact. Because they're so weak, most Waddle Dees stay out of Kirby's way and just walk around peacefully. For the most part, Waddle Dees behave the same way in each game. However, many variations of the species exist, such as Waddle Doos. In some cases, Waddle Dee exists as a playable character as well, such as Bandana Waddle Dee , an ally to Kirby in several games. After being thrown, they "waddle" across the stage, and will do one of three things while they walk: trip in place, stumble forward, or jump. Its jump attack deals a small amount of damage and moderate knockback, similar to when a thrown Waddle Dee hits an opponent. During King Dedede's Final Smash, Waddle Dee Army , Waddle Dees will fall then quickly run across the stage, knocking any opponent in their path in the direction that they were running. Suddenly, Luigi is attacked from behind by King Dedede, making him become a trophy. King Dedede places Luigi on the road as a bait for Wario , who is coming down the road. Wario is ambushed by several Waddle Dees while Dedede steals his Cargo and the trophies.

To be honest, he's just happy getting his fair share of the spotlight

Waddle Dees are a species of very peaceful creatures that are a common sight in Dream Land , in the wider Popstar region, and on many other planets. Named for their waddling gait, Waddle Dees are about the same size as Kirby , and have a slightly pear-shaped body with orange-red skin, fingerless stubs for arms, and two feet which are typically yellow, but may also be tan or a light orange. Their faces are tan in color and consist of two dark brown eyes, two cheek blushes, and no mouth or nose though Waddle Dees are known to speak and eat despite lacking mouths. While most Waddle Dees are orange or red, there also are green, yellow, blue , or golden Waddle Dees to be found. Overall, Waddle Dees are depicted as peaceful denizens of Dream Land that seldom fight actively. Instead, they usually just waddle around in stages and leap in the air occasionally, neither paying attention to, nor actively attacking Kirby. While they are generally not much of a threat, they usually damage Kirby if they run into him or if he touches them.
