Sidious knew Vader would not fail him, like he never has in the past.

The fight takes place on Mustafar and they meet randomly. Movies only, Voldemort could take the win, if and only if he has the elder wand. Any EU material on Sidious, and he curbstomps. Also taking into account that the speed of Sidious in the movies is the same as Voldemort, perceivable to humans.
