Already spent hundreds of hours in Valheim?
As a procedurally generated survival game, Valheim relies on World Seeds as a core aspect of world creation. If you want your world to have the optimal layout of biomes, resources, and bosses, then a good starting point — or World Seed — is required. Using these map generators, you can scout out or craft the optimal Valheim world before you even start playing! In most sandbox games with a world that randomizes every time you start a new file, like Minecraft , your world will have a World Seed. This series of letters and numbers make your procedurally generated world what it is and can be saved or shared with others if you find a certain world setup that you prefer. Valheim uses this World Seed feature, so players have started to game the system and find which ones are the best, whether you want to make the game easy for yourself or ridiculously hard. If you want to get a good look at your world before you start playing Valheim , two helpful map generators have emerged.

Part of the appeal of Valheim is exploring its world, but if you want to plan ahead, viewing your world's seed ahead of time will let you know what to expect. When you first start out in Valheim , you'll not only create your Viking character, you'll also create a "seed" for your game world. The seed is a code that corresponds to the locations of all the elements of the world when it's generated, dictating where biomes, resources, bosses, and everything else in Valheim is located. The game will randomly create seeds for you, but if you want more control, you can put in the seed code to spawn into a specific world. We've gathered all the info you need to know about how seeds work in Valheim, how to evaluate them, and which ones you might want to use as you're planning your Viking excursions. Keep in mind that this guide is for Valheim players who aren't interested in the joy of exploration--much of what makes the game interesting is exploring your game world, finding what secrets it hides, and working to survive with imperfect knowledge of what you'll face. But if you want to fast-track your way through a Valheim run, set up the perfect place to build an awesome Viking base, or just have more control over your experience, use this information to pick the right seed for you and get everything you want out of your Valheim game world. Your seed is determined by a code that's a combination of capital and lowercase letters and numbers. You'll find that code on the Select World screen when you first fire up Valheim. This is where the game stores your game worlds and allows you to spawn into them--it's also where you can set up single-player, local, or dedicated servers. The "New" button allows you to create a new game world, which allows you to either specify the seed you want to use or generate a random one. When you generate a random game world, you might still want to know what's in it and how things are laid out.

This tool is still in a very early stage of development, if you experience any crashes or odd behavior please reach out to me so I can try to fix it! Eventually we will have a lot more filtering options, navigation tools, and descriptive icons for entities, but at the moment my focus is on identifying what all the entities are and figuring out things like terrain and biomes. Some things in this list may prove to be impossible, but from my initial reverse engineering efforts I think we should be able to do almost all of them! The unique ID and Byte Offset are mostly useful for me to develop more features, but the Type and Position are good to use, especially with the "pos" console command in game! You can click on the Unique ID, Byte Offset, and Type to copy the raw values to your clipboard, again, mostly useful from a development point of view, but maybe you want to try and copy some type id's to help identify stuff, and that would be awesome! Finally, this project is open source, I don't know if I will accept PR's, at least not initially since I'd like to feel free to refactor things drastically if I need to, but feel free to submit issues, and take a look on gitlab if you're interested! Inverse spoke to the creator of one of the most useful map seed generators for the wildly popular survival game 'Valheim. A fan-created world seed generator gives any and all Valheim players a huge advantage when it comes to picking a new world to explore. Created by Reddit user wd40bomber7, the Valheim World Generator lets users enter or randomize a World Seed — essentially a code that determines the entire layout of the entire game world — to get a sneak preview of what a Valheim session might look like. The map seed generates the layout of biomes, resources, bosses, and virtually every other aspect of the map all based on the original string of digits. Normally, the game procedurally generates all of this behind the scenes, and the player has no way to preview what things will look like. Inverse spoke to wd40bomber7 to learn more about his thoughts on Valheim , why he decided to create this helpful tool, and features he intends to add, such as customized categories and vegetation generation. What do you love and hate about Valheim as a player? Currently, my wife and I have just started exploring the mountains, and every step of the way has been enjoyable! I wouldn't say I hate anything about the game.
