Select Action at the bottom of the screen, then choose Polarize, which will show all available umbra forma of Forma to choose from, umbra forma. Choose Umbra Forma, which will show a layout of the item's mod slots and polarities. Click on a slot to polarize with Umbra polarity. A slot that already has a polarity either by default or from a prior polarization can also be changed.

The Umbra forma is a rare commodity one we can only get every 8 weeks via Teshin for steel essence, once per night wave cycle as an end tier reward, and the rare occasional twitch stream drop. The umbra polarity is great for frames that need that extra clean power strength, health, or armor which is nice however it tends to bind the frame into only that. Meaning if you want to run a frame for multiple purposes or builds you are essentially stuck with that type of build since the only mods that fit there are the umbral mods. This tends to be an issue with some frames for this example I will use Volt. This eidolon build requires all 3 umbral mods and 2 umbra polarities giving volt boosted tao resistance, health, armor, and strength making casual eidolon hunts easier. Effectively making it impossible to maximize the frames potential.

I got most of every warframe and a good roster of melee and primary weapons and at this point since I've gained enough, the question is now "What to use it on"? They're so rare it's like hording elixirs even past the final boss. So, one of the classics for it is Chroma Prime I would say, he really benefits from having lots of power strength and bulk and he still is among the best frames for raid-like activities. Another classic is Inaros Prime, because it is kinda obligatory if you're going for that sweet 10k health. Wukong is also a considerable option. If you really should have too many believe me, you don't Frost, Oberon, Grendel and Atlas for that extra little oomph. I consider putting one on Wisp for a power strength meme build, but that is reaaaally for a bored soul as myself. Point being, the problem currently is both that your slots are locked to this investment in a more constraining way than normal forma significantly so considering you could make a forma per day , and that the actual benefits are somewhat niche due to being locked to only one specific configuration that can be used to begin with.
