Students must meet with their advisors this week to discuss their plan for Spring course registration. All students will be enrolled during this week but faculty will make adjustments during Roster Management Week for classes with stated limits. All Five College registrations must have instructor permission. Information includes instructor, semester offered, updates to description, title, and course restrictions. Courses are not open for editing in mass. ADCs can begin entering course times and room preferences. Friday, October 20 Last Day to withdraw from the College This is the last day that students may withdraw from the College for a semester or more.

On Thursday, Sept. Today, the Faculty Senate approved a revised academic calendar for the Spring semester. As we continue to grapple with the COVID pandemic, changes were implemented to the spring semester to take into consideration the safest way for us to proceed by limiting risk to the campus community. A copy of the revised calendar can be viewed at the bottom of this email. The Spring semester will begin on Monday, Feb. This two-week delay will put us further along into the traditional flu season in Massachusetts, and perhaps even near the end of it. Starting two weeks later than normal will also provide more time for outdoor opportunities and activities in warmer weather. There will not be a Spring Break nor the two long weekends we traditionally observe in the spring — Presidents' Day Feb. This should minimize students and other community members from leaving the local area to travel to potentially high-risk COVID regions and then return to the Amherst area.

Ava Sadowski , Writer April 15, These changes include a post-Labor day start-date, extended winter break, and a later end to Spring semester. These classes are done through University Without Walls. Many students do not agree with this decision, including junior Jeanne Henchy. Many students have also expressed concern over the new graduation date, which is now set for Memorial Day weekend. Since Henchy will be a senior next year, she and many of her peers are unhappy with the later date. Henchy has an off-campus lease that ends on May 26th, followed immediately by commencement on the 27th. There should be a buffer time to decompress, celebrate and have time to move out. Henchy also empathizes with students who may not have the convenience of being a car-ride away from home. Current Affairs.
