Ultrakill is a fast-paced first-person shooter with emphasis on deliberate movement and stylish techniques. The player must quickly make their way through an interpretation of Dante's layers of Hell , with each layer being divided into multiple levels. The player defeats enemies using an arsenal of weapons and various robotic arms, which either have to be found or bought from a Terminal with Points, the in-game currency, which is rewarded upon completing a level. These have unique interactions with each other, invoking the combination attacks of games like Devil May Cry [3] such as parrying one's own shotgun projectiles or riding your rockets. Many of the advanced techniques in the game are a result of combining various elements of the player's arsenal. To encourage aggressive gameplay, the player can heal by absorbing the blood of enemies through close-range combat or through parrying an enemy's attack.
