Posted in Bikes. A big effort went into mass optimization of the engine and, in the process, backlash gears have been removed to create an overall more free-flowing engine with fewer moving parts. With 94 horsepower on tap and max torque of 58 ft. Most ADV bikes have a tall first gear, which for some riders makes navigating technical off-road trails challenging. Triumph made first gear shorter by 10 percent, which makes riding slower, technical off-road terrain much easier. The engineers continued on the less-is-more track. They took a good look at an area most manufacturers overlook—the exhaust. Over the last 10 years, motorcycle exhausts have become humongous because of strict emission laws. Triumph wanted to drop some additional weight so the engineers did a total redesign of the exhaust system, creating a more free-flowing, better sounding, and visually smaller system that sounds incredible right off the showroom floor. Beefy suspension on the XCA soaks up everything, from small bumps to big jumps. WP suspension front and rear on the XC line really make the new Tiger shine no matter what terrain you find yourself on. Fully adjustable rebound and compression on the front allow for quick fine tuning adjustments based on the conditions at hand. The XR line uses Showa suspension front and rear.

The suspension set-up is such that, overall, on road, both are more than capable of mixing it with sports bikes and are a real blast to ride, while at the same time being decently stable, comfortable, distance machines. And that, combined with the light clutch, perfectly slick gearbox and impeccable throttle response, makes the Tiger XC a doddle to ride. Neat touches abound, such as a little switch to lower the headlamp for pillion use, the clever seat height adjusters, plenty of bungee hooks and decent underseat storage. The quality seems good, especially with the clocks, paint etc and, with a claimed mile potential range and raft of accessories is immensely versatile. You pays your money, you takes your choice… the cheaper version of the two Tigers ticks virtually every box and is probably, unless you specifically NEED some off-road ability, the more logical choice. But for many, the full-sized XC looks better, due to its size and stature, and, with genuine off-road ability, has more strings to its bow.
The Triumph Tiger is one of those bikes that kind of flies in the face of conventional wisdom about what makes a great Adventure Touring motorcycle, and Triumph is perennially happy to thumb its nose at the competition. The Tiger XCx is the base model here, with a slew of features designed to devour landscapes. WP front and rear shocks are fully adjustable, the ergonomics are adjustable to make the bike fit perfectly, and a 5 inch TFT gets you the information you need on the spot. LED daytime running lights keep you visible, and adding to the safety are off-road rated Brembo premium brakes. Built in handguards, an aluminum sump guard, and a radiator guard are also standard.

Some minor vibrations at motorway cruise speeds. ZR-rated Pirelli Scorpion Trail tires provide good grip and turn-in on the street, and aired down they offer commendable bite and bump absorption offroad. On Tigers so equipped, ABS can be disabled for offroad riding or parking lot shenanigans. A well appointed rear rack doubles up as a passenger grab rail while up front the comprehensive instrumentation gives you all the vital information you need to know on your journey. There's a buyer for each model, some look for more off-road, some for more sporty. Comfier too. Max Torque. It's not designed for that! Spots of rust around spokes, but again a known issue. Awesome package, a bit on the expensive side for top spec version and engine could use a bit more torque. Recently, I bought this bike from the showroom. For off-road use, both ends are soft, but they are extremely predicable. Unlike RVs, we save time and money and have fun commuting to work or running errands with them.
The new TFT dash, back-lit switch gear and new graphics give it high level of spec for a middle-weight adventure bike.
