Watch it on. There is something which strikes me as insincere the staircase autopsy photos his stated attachment to Kathleen despite all his words to the contrary. They have also done studies on falling down the stairs and if you fall from a low height it turns out it can look very much like you were attacked even tho you were not.
We prepared by going to Germany to interview witnesses and secure the relevant records. But we knew that if this evidence was presented to a jury, our defense would be severely prejudiced. And the prosecution knew this too. It put us in a difficult position. They were completely opposed. But if we filed a motion to prohibit the exhumation, we would look like we were trying to hide something.

Sky Atlantic's latest drama The Staircase has got everyone talking, particularly regarding the story it's based upon and the mysterious death of Kathleen Peterson. The Staircase is an eight-part true crime series that has aired exclusively on Sky Atlantic about Michael Peterson, a novelist convicted of murdering his wife Kathleen, whose body was found at the bottom of the staircase in their home. Kathleen died in December and Peterson has always maintained his innocence, even after he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in October During the trial, which has been relived through Netflix's own docu-series which shares the same name as the Sky Atlantic series, the defence and prosecution debated Kathleen's injuries and argued whether the amount of blood found at the crime scene was consistent with someone falling down the stairs. Peterson claimed that on the night of her death, the couple had enjoyed drinks by their pool after dinner. Kathleen went inside first and he followed after some time had passed and found her lying by the foot of the staircase covered in blood. He was the only other person in the house at the time and was immediately treated as a person of interest by investigators. The defence argued that the lack of cast-off spatter at the scene suggested no weapon was used in her death, otherwise Kathleen would have suffered bruising and skull fractures.

No broken bones, no brain injury, just shredded skin on the head. Matthew folkerds on July 13, at am. Beautiful loving and calm family. I am not a blood splatter expert — maybe I need to call Dexter! I kept this in mind through out. Lori Williamson on August 29, at pm. The frustration of never knowing the full truth must be something that is very difficult to live with, alongside having to defend a case where the prosecution behaved so recklessly. Another theory, which has been suggested to explain the unusual injuries to Kathleen Peterson's head, is that she was attacked by an owl in the stairwell. This would be more than enough to cause a person with more than 4 inches of hair in the back of head significant injuries. Do evidence and empiricism mean anything to you… to anyone, anymore? Did anyone else hear that creepy phone call between Michael and David when talking about the results of whether blood was found on the mysterious cob web infested murder weapon? The original autopsy on Liz Ratliff was that she had an aneurysm and so it was natural causes. Live in her honor, and honor her memory. I think mock trial should be apart of every high schoolers education!! That is huge evidence if I had heard that during the court case it would of changed everything but nobody mentions it even in the documentary! It was incredible. Where are the talon marks on hee hands that would be consistent with someone protecting themselves from an owl attack? Watch it on. Either way, Mike is not a medical professional, so to call him out on this seems obtuse. The thought that people are going to hear that and immediately forget, after all of the work shown to prove an unjust legal system, especially because of the death in Germany that should have never been introduced into trial and think he was guilty. A family member fell, in rather heavy rain, in a spate of wet weather, when all outside surfaces were wet and slippery, when attending the pool.
