However, I recommend farming the Headless Horseman to get the utterly adorable Arfus battle pet.

Key is also obtainable on the Auction House or reportedly also from Arcanist Doan's chest, as mentioned by Kruggov in the comments. After you obtain the key, head to the Scarlet Monastery. After entering the building, you will find on the left side a keychain with quest mark above it. Complete this quest. Afterwards, when you interact with the keychain, you will get The Scarlet Key buff after which you can interact with previously locked door to 2 old dungeons and enter them. Current portals to Scarlet Monastery also function as portals to the old dungeons they used to lead to. As of now, you can access all 4 previously removed dungeons.

Comment by frozenfan apparently you need to be at LEAST lvl to even have a remote chance of getting the key. In fact, my Death Knight was being continuously whacked in the face by an NPC in the background as I was writing this, the scarlet key wow.

The Scarlet Key has a high chance of being obtained from opening a Loot-Filled Pumpkin , rewarded from your first Headless Horseman victory of the day. However, I recommend farming the Headless Horseman to get the utterly adorable Arfus battle pet. Walk up the stairs Read the text and simply click Complete to finish the quest. From now on, you can click this keyring on any character to gain The Scarlet Key buff, which allows you to access the original version of Scarlet Monastery through the Scarlet Halls and Scarlet Monastery portals. Much like the return of Old Scholomance in Dragonflight, plenty of long-lost loot is finally available to earn once again.

A person with Blacksmithing could also use at least a Truesilver Skeleton Key to open the door. After you obtain the key, head to the Scarlet Monastery. The Strongbox isn't locked in any way, and the key can be looted by all party members. I'm sure a lower level character could do it as well. Out of all the things, old items from Vanilla dungeons added back just for player enjoyment should not be walled behind FOMO nonsense I got the key solo as a lev 60 healing build Priest so shouldn't be a prob for any high lev class. I just did a run on a level 10 protection paladin on every one of the old dungeons. Current portals to Scarlet Monastery also function as portals to the old dungeons they used to lead to.
