Cincaid 17 Nov 10 Nov 28 Nov Note that this can be done before completing step one through various means , but it's highly recommended to have beaten Satan five times to unlock the item The Negative , which you'll want for a future step. Since you're on a strict timer it's recommended to do this with a character with strong starting stats, like Cain, Judas or Azazel. You'll know if you managed to do it if you hear mom yelling and some running footsteps after the boss is dead. You then need to go back to the starting room of the first floor and place a bomb anywhere, which will then spawn the item Broken Shovel. Note that once the boss is dead the one minute-timer stops, so you can now collect items and get the shovel without rushing. After beating the boss rush you'll receive the second piece of the shovel, creating the new item Mom's Shovel.

I'd keep trying and it doesnt hurt to reset a run until you get bomb immunity if you're struggling with the stomps.
