For a historical junkie you have come to the right place.

The restaurant was extremely clean. Alyssa was our waitress and we couldn't have asked for better service. I had the best steak I've ever had. Their Mac and Cheese was delicious. The Cole Slaw was very good. I would really recommend this restaurant.

My girlfriend and I recently stayed here for 3 nights whilst doing some sightseeing around Dorset. The property itself was beautiful and the surrounding village had some stunning walking trails through local farmlands. It's easy to get to the tourist hotspots by car and because The food was great - all fresh and locally sourced where possible and there was plenty to choose from to accommodate most tastes. Staff were friendly and always eager to help - very attentive. The room was functional, clean and had a degree of charm with its old wooden beams. If you're after luxury, then probably skip this but it was perfectly acceptable for what we needed. Despite the obvious effects Covid is having on the industry at large, we felt the overall experience was fantastic value for money and would highly recommend the Anvil Inn to anyone that is looking for a Dorset getaway!

If you're in the area and can't deal with finding a parking spot down the street in the historic section, you can't beat The Anvil open Thur-Sun, Food was good coffee was better and desert was awesome. Sort: Popular Recent. In fact, I smelled it while driving by and just had to turn around and have lunch here. They are short handed and have had to cut back on the beer garden, and the patio seating.
