The cost of running shoes is ballooning ever upward, particularly due to cottage companies not realizing an economy of scale i. Being a gear tester — specifically, a runner and shoe tester — has given me a healthy dose of skepticism. After 3 decades of squeezing my feet into climbing shoes, ski boots, and narrow running shoes, my feet have rebelled. Would the new Timp 5 help a zero-drop skeptic like me cross the line? In short: The industry is telling us there is a high cost to running fast. The Timp line has always represented a do-it-all trail running shoe with good stability, moderate stack height, and comfort. Its middling reputation had begun to put the shoe to the back of the shelf at retail and to the back of mind for many runners. So among all things super shoe, carbon this-, and nitro-injected that, why should runners care about a slight revamp to a non-plated, non-rockered, zero-drop runner? Looking back from the first ever Timp to the latest iteration, the shoe has evolved underfoot, and now uses different compounds both in the midsole and outsole. That said, the Timp 5 has gained some precision. I appreciated this as a runner who trends toward super lightweight, race-oriented trail shoes. The pared-down upper likely contributing to its weight drop has deprioritized durability in favor of simplicity. Importantly, fewer overlays have not sacrificed lockdown; the shoe cradles and locks the foot very well with its thick laces. The traditional laces serve to secure the foot, although there is a full 4 inches of vamp from the toe to the first lace eyelet.

The low-profile lugs on the outsole provide both traction and a stable platform, supra footwear shoes, while the firm midsole provides ample support during heavy lifts though some athletes find them clunky on runs. Normally a size 11, our reviewer literally could not get his foot into the shoe due to its small sizing and extremely narrow supra footwear shoes.
Supra was an American skate shoe brand founded in Los Angeles, California by Angel Cabada in partnership with professional skateboarders. Muska has described the founding of the company as an "underground idea, shared between five people, that became a crazy explosion". I feel blessed, honored and I'm humbled. It's something I'm really proud to be a part of. There's a million shoes out there that are simple, but I really wanted that fusion of vulcanized and cup sole because I like the feel of the vulc, but I like the impact absorbing features of the cup sole".
In the years before gossip magazines gave way to Instagram, head-turning sneakers became ingrained in contemporary American celebrity. The brand was Supra, the sneaker was the Skytop, and it was impossible to miss during the late s and early s. The Supra Skytop is a glossy high-top skate shoe that could easily pass for an expensive designer sneaker—at least at first glance. But when it hit the scene, the Skytop was an inescapable part of celebrity fashion during an era when celeb content still came strictly from style blogs and gossip websites. It showed up at red carpet premieres and outside of nightclubs, worn by chart-topping musicians like Justin Bieber and Lil Wayne and movie stars like Bradley Cooper. For its time, the Skytop was as wild as sneakers got, groundbreaking in its combination of skate-ready durability, extravagant silhouette, and seriously out-there colorways. It was a cool ugly sneaker before ugly sneakers were cool. And then, as the celebrity fashion zeitgeist moved on to the next trend, the shoe slowly vanished from the Hollywood spotlight and went back to the skateparks and high school hallways from which it came. The Skytop was designed by Chad Muska , a charismatic pro skater on the Supra team, alongside Josh Brubaker, the first footwear designer hired at the company.
