Scanning flora and fauna will give you information about them and sometimes reveal new crafting recipes. Scanning furniture and building pieces will give you the ability to craft them. For craftable items that need multiple pieces scanned, the game will show your progress on-screen.

Subnautica : Below Zero puts you in an environment filled with alien penguins and other monsters of the deep, and the dangers of the water still remain. You have to watch your oxygen, food, and water levels to successfully explore the area. The resources that you can actually harvest can be hard to see, but in the settings, you can add a colored outline on harvestable goods. You can do this by opening the menu, going to Options , and checking off the Highlight Interactable box under Accessibility. While it may be tempting to go into every chasm you find, your oxygen levels will be too low. One of the first things you should make is a Survival Knife. You can use the Fabricator in the pod to craft one using Silicon Rubber and Titanium.
