The St. John Fisher student accused of attempted kidnapping , which prompted a campus lockdown this week, now faces stalking charges in Brighton. On Friday, Brighton police arrested Shalom Mathews, 19, following an investigation into multiple reports of unwanted, harassing, and sexually explicit messages sent via social media. These alleged messages were directed at various victims over an extended period, police said. Mathews has been charged with third-degree stalking, a misdemeanor, and was arraigned in Brighton Town Court. He was released on his own recognizance. Anyone with information is being asked to contact Sgt. Julio Montes at Earlier in the week, Mathews was arrested after an incident that led to a lockdown at St. John Fisher University in Pittsford. Allegedly wielding a knife, he approached a university employee on campus. Mathews was later apprehended during a traffic stop in Henrietta. University officials confirmed that Mathews, a freshman, is enrolled at St. John Fisher.
