Squads is a game mode in Fortnite: Battle Royale. It was introduced in the Pre-Season. Squads follow the standard set of rules, meaning there are players; 25 teams of 4 members, who all compete to obtain a Victory Royale. Players can have up to three other squad members to fight alongside with in this mode.

Grab some friends and adopt new strategies in Fortnite Battle Royale with this guide to playing Squads and Duos. While playing solo can be exhilarating, Squads and Duos make it easier to win. The first step when it comes to playing Squads and Duos in Fortnite Battle Royale is building your party. Select the one you wish to play. To do so, select the empty player slot, then scroll through your friends list until you find the friend you wish to invite. This means if you only have two people online and ready to play, the third slot can simply be auto-filled in.

If they choose the latter, they can group up into Squads of up to four players or Duos of up to two players. To play as a pair or a squad of up to four, start up Fortnite Battle Royale as usual — until you reach the gameplay menu. From there, you can invite friends to play with you or you can auto-fill the slots with random players. To invite your friends into Duos and Squads, select the empty slot and scroll through your friends list to send them an invite. It also helps that your teammates can revive you if you need it. Lie in wait for their partner to come and revive your bait to try and finish off the Duo. This means that you can play with friends while remaining on a level playing field with the opposition.
