The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is an incredible game, shrine map breath of the wild, both in terms of critical acclaim and sheer size. BOTW Shrines contain a variety of challenges. Some are small dungeons which feature a central puzzle theme. Others contain monsters which test Link's combat skills and range from relatively easy to fairly difficult. There are also "free" shrines. Those include the shrines in the Lost Woods and the three labyrinths and some Shrine Quests. These shrines contain no puzzles or monsters and the treasure chest and Spirit Orb are given freely just for accessing the shrine.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild's Shrines are small puzzle rooms that are scattered throughout the game's world. Introduced at the start of the game as a means to unlock Runes - special abilities Link can use to manipulate objects to solve puzzles - they later reward Link with Spirit Orbs, which can be traded in for permanent Stamina and Heart Container upgrades. While considered optional, visiting them will make your quest go much smoother, and are home to some of the best challenges in the game - so be sure to take the time to visit as many as you can. There are many Shrines throughout the game , to be exact with every region containing a handful each. You can spot them from a distance by their characteristic red glow; not unlike the Towers that sprout up throughout the land, but closer to the ground. Of course, some are harder to find than others, often appearing out of view or out of reach, and so accessing them can prove to be a puzzle within itself. Once you have entered and completed its Trial, you will reward a Spirit Orb by their conclusion - used to trade for permanent Heart Containers and Stamina upgrades, which you can read about later in this article - as well as bonus Treasure, some of which is exclusive to that Shrine.

In effect, shrines are miniature dungeons filled with puzzles. They dot the Hylian landscape, waiting for you to enter and conquer. Every dungeon has a theme and is comprised of a puzzle or a series of puzzles based on that theme. Inside, your job is to get from the entrance to the man at the end who will grant you an award, using the methods that the theme hints at. There are also occasionally enemies in spirit shrines, though none we've encountered were terribly difficult. You can turn those in for additional heart containers or stamina upgrades. There are other benefits shrine, too: treasure chests. In the shrines surrounding the Great Plateau, you'll tend to find some excellent and powerful weapons that will help you in the early game.
