There's no such thing as a cookie cutter characters in this manga, save the extras in the background. The rest of the support cast either get a glory chapter or three each or get sidelined by the glory of Souma's success. I was so fucking excited that they can still redeem the series even after such a bad ending to the actual manga to be completely disappointed with the complete open ending of the manga. Hayama Akira, Kurokiba Ryo, Alice Nakiri, Mito Ikumi, Satoshi Isshiki, Kobayashi Rindou are all top tier characters who were if made the main characters of their own series, would definitely pose a serious threat to a lot of main characters the community has to offer. For every "food war" there is time spent building up characters making Food Wars cast incredibly likable and memorable. Click once to include and twice to exclude Clear All Your Feelings. Art - 9 The art is pleasing to the eye especially to the food. Yea, students participating in school competition is nothing new but what makes the plot of SnS unique is that it's all about food yet the battles are just as thrilling as those flashy shounen, if not more. You get random elements of magic thrown in when a character can steal another chefs techniques by touching their knife, characters who's blessings somehow makes other characters around them lose their clothes when they acknowledge a dish, a character that uses fucking TNT and sledgehammers to bake cakes, clown and drag queen cooks, etc. Creative 0. What makes Shokugeki no Soma so much more interesting and stand out is the different types of characters that are involved. Score: 7. Add to Favorites.

Why for this Manga? At times the scenes are absolutely crazy ie. But what sets this manga apart from the rest of the manga, simply basing it on the average rating is has all these years, is that it is pretty entertaining. Moreover, the MC's background allowed him to be more playful and more daring in his culinary pursuits. Secondly, while a villain is certainly an aspect to build tension the story, why go so far as to use simple actions abuse and assault to make them seem bad. The show does have a reason for this: to showcase the taste of the food visually but it was over done and could have used some restraint. Now at the end of the story, all development goes out the window. His matches both inside and outside of school saw him as the winner. I think that there's a possibility that the very concept and structure of the shokugeki is the main problem here. Each of them are Unique. This villain jumps into the story immediately with 0 foreshadowing and felt completely like an asspull, this is furthered with their backstory with Erina as a complete douche to give us a reason not to like them, while this can be argued that it is an understandable backstory, I feel it is a poorly thought out one as it turns into Erina a tragic character and the only reason to sympathise with her is because of her backstory and not her own character. Each chapter seems to have something to add, and for a weekly Shonen series that is incredible. When I started the manga, it had released upto chapters and I read them in one go in abt 3 days. The light these characters shine is bright. More reviews by Oixo
