From the Trading Card Game to the several generations of video games, Pokemon fans all around the world have had to learn and study the defining structure of every Pokemon battle: type matchups. This concrete ruleset of a water type having an advantage over a fire type and so on has often been compared to the gaming structure of 'Rock, Paper, Scissors'. Depending on its type, every Pokemon can either be the paper for victory, or the rock doomed to fail. The Pokemon Scyther, however, takes this formulaic comparison quite literally. Even in the time of Red, Blue and Yellow Scyther wasn't all that, just because it didn't learn any STAB bug- or flying-type moves other than the weak Wing Attack, which was still a whopping 35 power back then Crits galore! In the second generation, Scyther even got an amazing evolution named Scizor.

Likewise, if two trainers were to have only the three evolutions of Scythers in their party and send only one out at random, the outcome of the battle would be just as predetermined. Search forums. At least, that was the case until the addition of Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Where can I find EXP share? Is there a huge difference between moves, stats, or anything else that would warrant me needing to change my Scyther into a Scizor? The problem is that Scizor is superior to Scyther in every aspect except speed: Scizor becomes much slower in exchange for a little more bulk, a better attack stat and the ever-so-useful steel type. Swords dance for Scyther and agility for Scizor. Scyther has nasty attack and its pretty fast but its 4 times weak to rock type and has quite a lot of other weaknesses like fire and flying too. And how about Scizor?
It evolves into Scizor when traded while holding a Metal Coat.
