Scourge the Hedgehog , originally Evil Sonic , is one of primary antagonists in the American Sonic the Hedgehog comic series , published by Archie Comics. Originally appearing as a mean Sonic in leather attire, Evil Sonic was retooled into "Scourge" in order to further develop him as a character. In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series, there is a "multi-verse" consisting of hundreds of parallel universes. The main universe is called the "Prime-verse". The universe given the most focus other than the Prime-verse is called the "Anti-verse". Here, locations and characters are literally polar opposites of the Prime versions. The original leader of the group was Evil Sonic. After a great peace on his planet, Evil Sonic killed his own father and took over that world. After several failed attempts at defeating his good twin Sonic the Hedgehog , Evil Sonic was ousted from the Anti Freedom Fighters, and left to carry on his own misadventures. These included several run-ins with the prime group, and an encounter with Sonia the Hedgehog and Manic the Hedgehog of the Sonic Underground universe.

Shortly thereafter, Scourge's methods changed as well: from a small-time hoodlum and mercenary to a villain determined to carve out his path and completely distinguish himself from Sonic. For most of his criminal career, he led the Suppression Squad -previously known as the Anti Freedom Fighters-before becoming the leader of the Destructix. Anti-Jules made little time for his son, as Anti-Sonic would later remark he was a man of "empty words". The Great Peace also diverted much of his father's attention, as during a ceremony, young Anti Sonic was largely ignored.

Time and time again, he would travel to Mobius, either with his evil crew or by himself, to battle Sonic or working for Robotnik. In issue He Escaped but was arrested again by Zonic the zone cop. After switching Antoine with his Mobius counterpart, Patch , and see how Patch's handle his counterpart's place and manage to make quite a life for himself; Anti-Sonic tried the same thing with Sonic in a ambush. After switching clothes and sending Sonic to Mobius, Anti-Sonic went around pretending to be Sonic, and filtered with several of Sonic's girlfriends, like Amy, Fiona, and Mina. But Sonic manged to get back to his zone and took care of Anti-Sonic. With no-one to turn to, Anti-Sonic offered a gem to the reassure hunter Rouge to help him. Rouge accepted the offer.

After his imprisonment, however, Scourge had become a shadow of his former self. Scourge was irritated by Fiona's perceived desertion, but he was more concerned that he would get into trouble with other convicts for trying to form a gang. But when Miles returned, apparently being chased by the Freedom Fighters, he and the rest of the squad, except Fiona, revealed their planned betrayal. The battle started up again, with the robotic duplicates quickly holding their own. After ten years passed following the beginning of the Great Peace, Anti-Mobius fell into a state of decline and stagnation and when it reached rock bottom, Evil Sonic was ready to seize power. Weight : 35kg 77lbs. Scourge recognized that with Enerjak on the loose, nowhere on Mobius would be safe, so he convinced Fiona to leave the planet altogether. His sunshades are also inverted, going from red to light cyan. Super Scourge then proceeded to defeat the combined might of the Knothole Freedom Fighters and Suppression Squad minus Boomer and Fiona , who had returned to Moebius expecting Scourge to be defeated. Scourge then proceeded to battle Sonic, and amid the battle, it was hinted he holds some unknown incentive that keeps the Squad loyal to him. Declaring himself a "real Scourge" and claiming that the "evil-twin shtick" was over, he brutally beat Locke into submission. He occasionally passed himself off as Sonic by stealing and wearing the heroic hedgehog's shoes.
