All are sold or died so I'd like to get a bigger mower for my acre instead of the temperamental robot and push mower I have. Probably a bit crazy but I'm thinking commercial but I wonder if their 20hp is the same as a craftsman rider 20hp is? The only conversion of a commercial mower I've seen is a dixie chopper and that used a really big motor but was used in commercial duty. I'm hoping a quick replacing the motor so wonder if I need alot more than the etek or two one deck one transmission like the one I used in the 42" rider I had. I think most of it is just lifespan and reliability not raw power. The machines are heavier but a bit more rugged and perhaps more efficient. There are alot of used ones in the area that look good but I don't want to get one if it'll require volt lb motor. If that is the case there are some old jd mowers I could try my luck on.

I need a zero turn mower ASAP. Which of these 4 brands would you recommend or avoid? Flat, wide open property, no hills, few trees, primarily wire mesh fence lines. Mowing now 8 acres. We have paid money to have it repaired hitting stumps and bending blades etc.

I looked at Grasshopper but in my area, most commercial guys use Scag or Hustler. None were Scag built. Wore my butt out just cutting a few acres. Scag has some really good decks, the may not be as thick as John Deere in the back but I think they are deeper and have better suction. As far as Quality build they both are top in the market but i give it to Grasshopper! He said that he had one that was several years old and I forget the reason but something happened that caused catastrophic failure to the engine on it. I thought I wanted a diesel, but a distributor said it was hard to justify, with the reputation of the 26 HP Kawasaki being so good. I bump it up to everything, which drastically cuts down on weed-eating. I'm looking for something in the 50 - 60 inch deck range. Search Advanced search…. DH does the maintenance and we split the costs with the neighbor. What does it cost to replace the blades?

Kubota wouldn't run straight and you had to really move the handles to get it to react. Search Advanced search…. Also try and regrease, switch back to the medium lift blades and check adjustments on everything to see if I can get it running a bit smoother. I looked at all of the above mowers; most of the better mowers are using the same components. I know a guy that has a Scag that is over 20 years old and he has never had engine problems that I know of. I got one recently, and have only managed to put about 8 hours on it so far. The metal on the decks tend to be heavier grade and the depth of the deck is normally deeper. I sure would buy another. Gear drive deck. It does a beautiful job of mowing. The ZD kubotas have a jack built in to the front wheel assbl.
