Music festival promoter Saran Bajaj, 30, was behind the wheel of a high-powered luxury sports car on the night of the Melbourne Cup last November. He crashed into four cars and a wall on Kingsall Road, causing tens of thousands of dollars of damage. After the initial impact his car lost a front wheel but it continued down the street and hit more vehicles before finally stopping when it hit a brick wall. She said an airbag that would have automatically stopped the vehicle failed to deploy and her client suffered extensive injuries including nerve damage to his hand, an injury to his right eye and an aneurism that would require surgery. She said Bajaj had been drinking on the afternoon of the crash and had intended to call an Uber to get home but did not have his phone on him.
