They live in our home, sleep on our beds, and lounge on our furniture at will. Our breedings are each carefully and thoughtfully planned, which means we have just a few litters per year. North Texas Samoyed Rescue, Inc. NTSRI is a nonprofit, c 3 tax- exempt corporation. Worth area, but we are registered with and work with many shelters, humane societies and individuals in five states: Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas and Kansas. NTSRI was formed in by a dedicated group of individuals who love animals in general and the Samoyed breed in particular. Individual contributors to NTSRI's efforts have been actively involved animal rescue work for more than 30 years. Rescued Samoyeds find their way to NTSRI from many sources, primarily through cooperation with local animal shelters and owner surrenders. On arrival into our program, the dogs are examined by a veterinarian and treated for any health problems they may have, including heartworms, spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Instead, we secure volunteer foster homes for newly arrived rescues. Foster caregivers bring the rescues into their own homes and integrate them with their families and activities. In this way, the rescued Samoyed begins right away to have relief from the stress of shelter life or previous abusive situations. Foster families also evaluate the rescued Samoyed's behavior traits and use positive reinforcement training when necessary.

Our ultimate goal is to see them placed in loving forever homes where both the dog and its adoptive family can live "happily ever after. Except in very rare instances, unanimously approved by the Board of Directors of NTSRI, the adopters must reside no more than miles from our home base in Dallas, Texas. Each rescued Samoyed that enters our program is immediately examined by a veterinarian and treated for any medical problems that may exist. The dog is also vaccinated, placed on heartworm preventative, and microchipped for identification purposes. NTSRI does not allow intact dogs to be adopted under any circumstances.

We place dogs in the best possible loving, responsible, committed permanent homes following our comprehensive adoption process which includes physically visiting all potential adopters in their homes, visiting with references, educating the prospective adopter about the level of responsibility we expect, and the costs of bringing a Samoyed into their home. Most importantly, we explain the lifelong commitment required for each rescued Samoyed, and what it means to accept responsibility for their new family member for the rest of their lives. We will work with these professionals to help the abused, fearful, sick, and neglected to the best of our ability, helping each dog to become a happy, well-balanced family member. Finally, we strive to work closely with other Northern Breed rescues, municipal shelters, and humane organizations to develop a network of volunteers and supporters to make a better world for Samoyeds in need and other homeless pets. Our mission is rescuing Samoyed's in need. Those from shelters are boarded for 10 days while receiving all medical care needed.
