Ret paladin rework

Noooo its not negative Its insulting

My name is Masky. I am a long-time retribution paladin main who has raided with the spec on and off at a decent level since Legion. Throughout the years I have done my utmost to minmax this spec to bring out the strengths of it. This has been a greatly enjoyable playstyle for me, and as I understand it many others, as it has been extremely rewarding to execute properly. Like many others I was very excited for the retribution paladin rework as the spec had been suffering from some glaring faults for a very long time.

Great, now people will be forced to run 2 paladins instead of one. Such good game design, wow. The last thing anyone needed was being forced to now bring 2 of one class, on top of already being forced to bring multiple classes for specific raid buffs. What's next? Elemental Shaman getting a totem for casters so you are forced to run two shamans instead of one Enhancer? Where does it end? Two Warlocks meaning two gateway uses? It's only fair since apparently Paladins get to have not one, but two vital raid buffs. A Melee class with the paper survivability of its range counter parts is rough. No one on the internet is ever happy about anything, ever. News at eleven. Coming from a pvp perspective, most classes have movement abilities that are unaffected by roots and snares. Humans beings don't pay the box price and a monthly subscription to play the game as a sheep, and I think CC is out of hand. The dot damage and spread pressure damage of Retribution on the PTR feels good. I'm just hoping the spec isn't destroyed during tuning.

Blizzard have announced some big changes coming to Retribution Plaladins with the next content patch, ret paladin rework, with a rebuild of the talent tree from the ground up! Tell me how all the cloth classes are way tankier than all the Mail classes?

As the title suggests, what was the point of the rework? You hook us with a lot of great ideas and proceed to gut the entire rework inside of three weeks. What was the point of the passive-aggressive nerf before the weekend on the eve of the patch? Thanks for nothing. Let this be a warning to anyone unhappy with the way their spec plays at a competitve level. No HoH, no law and order, no 20 yard HoJ, no undispellable freedom.

Great write up. So far my biggest problem is the same you wrote about Retribution Aura. I've never liked "bring the class not the player" because it has the effect of leaving players behind. If you're stuck in a class or spec you don't like, but can only get into a raid or dungeon if you choose that spec or class, the game isn't very fun. As far as reworks go, having the guide writer say "I love everything but this one thing," is super encouraging! Need to also talk about the new instrument of retribution passive giving wings when an ally dies. I don't want to benefit from my friends dying. If Wings of Liberty could end with consecration I'd die a happy nerd. I would bounce around trying to get that one great screenshot lol.

You still do way more damage inside of cds than outside, about the same as before. The dot damage and spread pressure damage of Retribution on the PTR feels good. The problem I have with it is the lack of skill expression. Although we wont know for sure how it all is until the big brain number crunchers come out with what is best. Another form of bad rng protection is simply having a high enough proc rate. What you are talking about is not what i see as gameplay but rotation. Or any cd reduction. Besides the point that it has a HUGE amount of RNG in it if all your attacks crit or non of it it is also a huge pain if you have todo stuff the moment you cast it. I see it being really strong in PvP where big chunky damage is what you want but in pve the overall dmg of it doesnt really increase for the holy power spent unless im missing something.

God thank you Blizzard for no longer sticking to stuff just because "it's always been that way". Really hope they look at Ret Aura.

Unfortunately, with Aura Mastery still being tucked away in Holy, so if it has any strong interaction with Ret aura, then you probably just take a second Holy pal for that instead. Vanguard of Justice is a cool talent, provided you have the resource generation to support it. Elemental Shaman getting a totem for casters so you are forced to run two shamans instead of one Enhancer? Overall, the rework did a great job at addressing the issues keeping Retribution from seeing play at higher levels and improving how fun it is to press your buttons, and the increased popularity of the spec is a testament to that. Reply to this topic On the other hand, the next tier set for Ret is certainly going to be better than the current one even despite the recent nerfs to it, and Ret will also be able to use the new Legendary weapon, so there are certainly some new systems that could benefit Ret more. We want your core abilities to feel good and powerful when used in all situations. While the US site hasn't posted any maintenance details yet, Blizzard typically releases patches a day in advance, suggesting that the patch will likely go live on March Melbrooks-proudmoore March 18, , pm Having horse off gcd is not much of an improvement. But Expurgation just does more dmg if u make it Holystrike instead of Radiant for me. Or any cd reduction. What you are talking about is not what i see as gameplay but rotation.
