When you walk through the main gate into the walled, medieval town itself, a kind of magic seems to happen. Most buildings inside the walls have been lovingly maintained and restored. Around each corner, you can find a fresh architectural surprise, a square buzzing with cafes and rows of sandstone houses with traditional green shutters. In the old town the Neo-Gothic style of the Sant Jaume church is seen reflected in the buildings that surround it, where sandstone and intricate details continue down its cobbled streets. On Sundays and Tuesdays, the open market spreads through much of the town attracting locals and tourists alike. In the evening, the town is lit by warm lamplight. This gives the colourful buildings a soft, pleasing glow. Most locals speak Mallorcan, a dialect of Catalan. Castellano, the official term for Spanish, is the other recognised language. However, Mallorca International school is just over a ten-minute drive away down the motorway towards Palma. The school which caters to year olds opened its gates in and teaches the British national curriculum. It is not possible to book taxis in advance for short local journeys. Views up the pretty, winding streets such as Carrer de la Roca must be some of the most photographed on the island.

It is the main tourist centre in the North of Majorca on the eastern coast. It is a large resort popular with tourists. The old town is surrounded by a medieval wall. Shortly after this, the capital Palma was founded and then the city of Pollentia. Pollentia served as a guard against other invaders. After Rome lost its position as the dominant power in the western Mediterranean, Pollentia was attacked by pirates and several times by the Vandals.

Alcudia was founded more than 2, years ago and is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Mallorca. Its ancient name was Pollentia, and it was an important Roman fortress. The impressive city wall, which surrounds the entire inner city, was built by the order of Kong Jaume II in the s. For several hundred years, the wall slowly eroded but is now getting restored alongside the beautiful city gates, Porta del Moll and Porta de Mallorca. You can also walk on parts of the wall, where you can get a unique view of the town.

Fast, nice and unobtrusive. The freshly grilled scallops with their roe attached had a beautiful sweetness. The rabbit tasted really tender and soft which really impressed us, but lamb shoulder was just alright. Come for lunch, come for dinner, and for breakfast as well! I strongly recommend it. Then, long wait for only two plates and here it comes for my son And the garlic prawns were lush! You can imagine I went there many times—but for good reason! Me Gusta is a modern Mediterranean restaurant serving contemporary dishes using local produce. The toilets are super clean too, which is rare among the restaurants here. Rooms, guests. Super friendly, fluent in English and overall great vibe.
In peak season — July and August — the beach is so long and spacious, it beach never feels completely packed. Even in the summer months when the island is baking in plus degree heat, Alcudia beach never feels quite as hot as there is usually a nice breeze blowing across the bay.
Excellent spot for a curry and the setting is lovely next to the canal. I'll never travel to Alcudia without this trip planner again. Highly reccommended to book ahead. What to order? All the staff were friendly and attentive, well organised and efficient. My favorite was the nachos when liquid cheese and tomatoes sauce. Thank you. Great, delicious fresh food. Lovely soft bread and super tasty olives! For authentic Spanish food and generally terrific wine I cannot recommend this spot enough. Very nice atmosphere.
