It's meant to be a more budget-friendly option to the Razer BlackWidow Elite and it doesn't come with a wrist rest or dedicated media keys. However, it's still an outstanding gaming keyboard with Razer's proprietary clicky Green switches, which have a low pre-travel distance, great for gamers. You can set macros to any key either through the Razer Synapse 3 software or on the keyboard itself, and it has full RGB backlighting. Sadly, it doesn't offer much in terms of ergonomics and its high profile may lead to fatigue while typing. Lastly, this keyboard is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux, but the dedicated software is only available on Windows. The Razer BlackWidow is outstanding for gaming. The proprietary Razer Green switches have a low pre-travel distance, don't require much force to actuate, and they provide good, clicky feedback.

Mechanical keyboards have been all the rage for quite some time now since the 70s? One year ago, wanting to jump on the bandwagon, I treated myself to one. But as a programmer, I do type a lot, and good tools would hopefully help me in my line of work. How it went? Read on for more. Spoiler: it turned out well! There wasn't much thought going into choosing this particular keyboard. I already had a mouse from Razer, and they have keyboards too, so I figured I could use the already installed and somewhat awful Razer synapse software. After seeing a couple of models in the shop, I went for the Blackwidow Ultimate Stealth Edition as the orange switches, similar to Cherry MX brown, were reasonably quiet and I didn't care for the macro buttons of the non model. After unboxing, I started wondering what I had gotten myself into. The thing was heavy as a brick. I was used to repositioning the keyboard on the desk every so often with a gentle push, which was impossible with the Razer. Instead, I needed to lift it using both hands.
This keyboard has a few extra gaming features.
Razer maintains a distinct sense of style across their product line. Over the past decade and a half, Razer has carved a spot in the peripherals market catering to competitive gamers as well as developing wholly novel products for the gaming market. Razer has a catalog including standard peripherals and more arcane things such as mice with telephone-style keypads geared toward MMORPG players as well as motion sensing controllers employing magnetic fields to detect controller position. The Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth Edition comes out of the box ready for use without additional software provided or assembly required. The keyboard uses a standard layout with five macro keys attached in a column on the left of the board. Rather than dedicated media buttons, media and keyboard specific functions are accessed by pressing a combination of a function key located to the right of right alt and the function keys on the top row. The headphone and microphone jack are present on the side of the keyboard.
Razer has got quite the lineup of keyboards now, ranging from Arctosa, Lycosa, BlackWidow and even the older Tarantula which was my first Razer keyboard. It seems they're on a charge for keyboard worldwide domination and the BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth Edition is no change. However, Razer has changed this with the Stealth keyboard. It's not completely silent, but it's a huge step in the right direction for Razer. The one Razer sent me was the Ultimate Stealth Edition, and ultimate, it is! The Ultimate Stealth Edition packs a bunch of great tech such as full mechanical keys with 45g actuation force, extreme anti-ghosting, individually backlit keys with five levels of lightning and Hz Ultrapolling with 1ms response time. The box art is absolutely gorgeous, featuring a cut-out hole where you can press the keys to test them before purchase to see if you not only like the feel, but the noise levels. The keyboard is outlined with a blue glow on the box that really makes it stand out.

The BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth Edition remains an expensive item to add to your gaming collection — but it also remains an excellent keyboard, and one that's now a bit quieter. I would say yes. Such a shame, as a bit of work by Razer and this would have been a very, very good keyboard. Note: We noticed some keys felt different when we pressed them during testing. Do you need to download the Do you need to download the software to use the keyboard or does it work straight out of the box Reply. Their method is to make the keycaps of clear ABS, and then paint them black except for the label part. In terms of the backlighting, only the primary non-shifted function of keys are backlit. And after a year, I think I both understand and agree. If you put it in front of me, I will play it at least once. On the upside, it has full RGB backlighting, great if you work in a dark environment.
