Forget the Year of the Sheep, is rapidly developing into the year of a hands Thoroughbred stallion named Dubawi. With 14 Group winners in the Northern Hemisphere he is four ahead of the normally indomitable Galileo, and with seven Group 1 winners he is no fewer than six ahead of Galileo. This helps explain why Dubawi currently holds a substantial lead over Galileo on the Racing Post's European Statistics, though the Coolmore stalwart, with a team headed by Gleneagles , is still leading the Anglo-Irish list in his bid to take his sixth consecutive championship and seventh in all. As if Dubawi's northern hemisphere exploits weren't enough, he also has two Group 1 winners Srikandi and Shamal Wind among his seven stakes winners during the latest Australian season. They have helped him finish 15th on the Australian table, even though he was at a considerable numerical disadvantage with only 92 representatives. Although Dubawi has shown he can sire very good winners over a wide range of distances, it is worth noting that five of his seven northern hemisphere Group 1 winners in have recorded their major successes over distances ranging from a mile and a quarter to a mile and a half. The exceptions are the nine-furlong scorer Hunter's Light whose past wins have come at up to 11 furlongs and the miler Night of Thunder.

He won one minor race as a two-year-old before establishing himself as a useful middle-distance performer in the following year with wins in the Glasgow Stakes and the Great Voltigeur Stakes. On his first appearance as a three-year-old, Postponed contested the Group Three Craven Stakes a trial race for the Guineas over one mile at Newmarket. He was then moved up in distance for the Newmarket Stakes over ten furlongs on 3 May. After being restrained by Atzeni in the early stages he struggled to obtain a clear run in the straight before staying on to take third place behind Cannock Chase and Mutakayyef. He's a mile-and-a-half horse. He led the field until the last hundred yards but was then overtaken and was beaten a neck and a short head into third by Al Kazeem and Fascinating Rock, with The Grey Gatsby in fourth. Kirby positioned the colt behind the front-running Snow Sky before moving into second place in the straight, but Postponed was unable to challenge the leader and was beaten almost four lengths, losing second place in the final strides to Eagle Top. Dettori said "Kirby wanted my position and I wasn't going to give it up. We got into a bumping match and we set our horses alight.

Ability counts for a lot in horse racing, but so does durability and consistency. Although he was to skip all the Classics at three, he was brought along steadily by Luca Cumani and gradually progressed from finishing third in the Group 3 Craven Stakes over a mile, to staying on in the Group 3 Tercentenary Stakes when third to Cannock Chase. A win in the Listed Glasgow Stakes was to follow, but it was on his final start at three when he showed signs of becoming a performer of the highest level in the Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes when drawing clear of subsequent Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes winner Snow Sky , with eight lengths back to the third. A win in the Group 2 Prix Foy at Longchamp followed, and he then spent the beginning of his four-year-old season in Dubai after being transferred to Roger Varian. He comfortably quickened away from his rivals in the Group 2 Dubai City Of Gold on his first start for Varian, before producing one of the best performances of his career in the Group 1 Dubai Sheema Classic, with the likes of top Japanese horse Duramente and globetrotter Highland Reel in behind.
