Poe elemental overload

Whenever the player deals a critical strike, the poe elemental overload bonus from Elemental Overload will apply for 8 seconds. This effect does not count as a buff and is not affected by modifiers to duration, nor can its expiry rate be modified by Temporal Chains. The damage bonus does not apply to the critical strike that originally caused Elemental Overload's effect to activate.

On checking the character sheet, I confirmed that the skill has no value listed for critical strike chance, so it can never crit. This initially surprised me, but I checked:. Precise Technique and Resolute Technique both correctly prevent Elemental Overload from granting any increased damage, but skills that have no natural critical strike chance still get the bonus even though they can never trigger it.

If you mean why it works that way, then I'm afraid that's an example of the kind of question that's outside the scope of this thread. I can tell you how it does work you need to crit something, so your totems critting something won't cut it, but once active, since totems use your skills, they benefit from it , but not why that decision was made. The Ailments never count as being from Critical Strikes effect causes any damage over time multiplier specific to ailments from critical strikes to not apply.

My goal with this guide is not to give explicit, step-by-step instructions on every mechanic, quest, and boss in the game. Instead, I want to provide a build that will allow you to figure all that out for yourself without having to worry too much about whether or not your character is capable of doing all that content. It is not meant to be the greatest build ever made and this guide is geared more towards the campaign and early maps as opposed to the more difficult end-game content.
