In Path of Exile: Heist we're making some changes to curses to provide incentive to self-cast them. We've made some small changes to existing curse mechanics, improved their visuals and added one new curse skill and one new support gem. An Overview of Curses Curses are among some of the first skills that were introduced to Path of Exile. Over time, we've introduced a number of ways to take advantage of their mechanics like the Blasphemy Support which creates a curse-aura, or adding the ability to apply curses with the Curse on Hit support. While having a number of methods of applying a curse is certainly a good thing, there was a lot of automatic-cursing going on and we wanted to give some incentives to those who wanted to take the time to actually cast a curse manually on a pack of monsters.

Curses are split into two categories: Hex es and Mark s. Curses have a limited duration , but can be refreshed by applying a curse again. Monsters and maps can have modifiers that make them or monsters inside of them, in the case of maps hexproof or immune to curses. The total Curse Effect value can be calculated as the sum of any added Curse Effect, multiplied by the sum of all increases and reductions to Curse Effect, multiplied by all more and less Curse Effect modifiers. Hexes have reduced effectiveness against bosses and certain unique enemies. Hexes can be turned into an aura by linking it with either Blasphemy Support or Awakened Blasphemy Support. Hexes can appear as modifiers on equipment and maps, which applies the Level 1 version of the curse on the specified target. Increased curse effect listed on the modifier is relative to the Level 1 version of the curse. If the Hex was self-cast, the curse will gain Doom over time. Maximum Doom is capped at 30 by default. Each Hex has its own Doom counter. Mark s are spells which apply the curse to a single target. By default, applying a Mark to another target will expire the previous Mark debuff.

Curse Enemies with Conductivity on Hit caster curse. You can apply an additional Curse caster curse. We are removing the Doom mechanic and as a consequence will be making several other changes to mechanics that previously interacted with Doom.

Our last three manifestos covered Jewels and Ailment Mitigation, the replacement of Archnemesis modifiers and Eldritch Altars. In today's final 3.
